June 2011
Summer is a great time to connect with friends, family, and neighbors. Last night, our street was full of kids riding bikes as parents gathered together in the shade and talked. The conversations ranged from talk about gardens and yards, to baseball and summer plans. As we talked, I began to realize how full my summer schedule was getting: camping trips, weddings, vacation, holidays, softball, and home improvement projects. It is so easy to over book your schedule, and a time of year that should be relaxing becomes hectic and stressful.
This Summer, create opportunities to relax and refresh...and Connect, Grow, and Serve with North Point!
There are opportunities to Connect like the Golf Tournament (June 12th), Mondays for Moms Picnic and Play in the Park (Bring your lunch and kids to play in the park and connect with other Moms...contact Becky Branum for changing park locations), and a North Point Camp Out (August 5th at Iron Creek Lake).
Summer presents new opportunities to Grow. It is easy to let the many summer activities creep up the priority list...but don’t “forget your first love.” Summer is a great time to get up a little earlier (the sun is usually up by 5am!) and have a quiet time with God, a cup of coffee and time spent reading the Bible is a great way to start your day! We will also be continuing our series of messages, during Sunday morning worship through the summer, exploring the book of Revelation. New Life Groups are starting during the summer as well, and if you can’t find one to fit your schedule consider starting one yourself.
Finally, there are ample opportunities to Serve this summer. North Point will be sponsoring a VBS again this summer! Saddle Ridge Ranch at the Barn (off old belle road) will take place evenings, June 13th-17th. Whitney Holst is coordinating this community service event, contact her to volunteer (and kids can register on line at our website). We will also be handing out bottled water during the Festival in the Park in July. A new service project will kick off this summer as well, Support Our School. North Point is putting together a team to help with our Kindergarten classes at West Elementary. Budget cuts and growing classes put a greater demand on our teachers, we are going to bring relief by volunteering to help with class preparation, field trips, and in class volunteers.
This Summer, let’s Connect-Grow-Serve together!
